5 Refrigerator Issues You Can Fix at Home

If you are worried about your refrigerator not working the way you want this information is for you. Simply look up the issue and know how to address it at home. Though you must keep in mind that solutions may vary as per model specifications.

5 refrigerator issues you can easily fix at home.

Problem #1 Excessive ice in the freezer

This happens due to a faulty seal or gasket. You can remove the seal or gasket and clean it with water and detergent. If it does not work properly you can replace them with a new one.

Problem #2 Food gets excessively cold

Frequent CFC cycling due to accumulation of dust in the condenser coils leads the refrigerator to cycle more. This, in turn, causes excessive cooling of the food and increases your electricity bill. You can clean the coils enclosed in the grill and place it back to restore proper functioning.

Problem #3 Temperature Not Cold Enough

If your refrigerator does not cool sufficiently you can replace the defrost thermostat. First, unplug your refrigerator and clean the condenser coil using a brush or vacuum.

Problem #4 Water Dripping

A clogged or frozen water supply pipe slows down the water from the dispenser. This hampers ice production in the freezer causing water dripping from it. Clean any clogs or leakages from the shut-off valve. You can either replace this pipe or shut off the refrigerator for one or two hours.

Problem #5 Refrigerator is Noisy

If your refrigerator is making weird noises you can check the electronic control as it might be damaged and replace it with a new one.
